Welcome to Do Not Dec-sturb—the space where we shut the door on December distractions and open the door to purpose, peace, and planning.
December is often a whirlwind. There are gifts to buy, parties to attend, and seemingly endless to-do lists. But amidst the hustle, I want to share a simple truth: How you end a season is how you enter the next. Let that sink in. December isn’t just the end of the year—it’s the launching pad for what’s next. Taking time to reflect, refocus, and realign with what matters most can set the stage for a stronger, more intentional 2025. So, grab a cup of coffee, tea, or whatever feels cozy, and let’s dive into how WE can finish this year with purpose and step boldly into what’s next.
Step 1: Reflect on 2024
Before we rush ahead, let’s pause and look back. Reflection isn’t just about remembering the good—it’s about learning from everything. What were the highlights of your 2024?Think about the moments that made you smile, the achievements that felt like milestones, and the relationships that deepened. Maybe you hit a career goal, spent quality time with loved ones, or simply made it through a tough season.
Now, let’s look at the flip side: What challenges stretched you this year? Maybe it was a tough conversation, a health scare, or navigating unexpected changes. Those moments weren’t easy, but they helped shape you. They taught you resilience, patience, and the power of grace.
Take a moment to jot down your highs and lows. Gratitude and honesty go hand in hand—they both help you see how far you’ve come.
Step 2: Realign and Reclaim
Here’s the good news: December isn’t over. You still have time to:
Refocus your energy.
Realign your priorities.
Reclaim your peace.
Ask yourself:
What matters most in these final weeks?
What can I let go of to create space for what’s important?
We often try to do all the things—especially during the holidays—but sometimes the best gift you can give yourself is permission to say “no.”
Step 3: The Power of Less
Here’s where Essentialism drops some wisdom: Less but better. Think about it: What’s one commitment, distraction, or even expectation you can release this month? Saying “no” isn’t selfish—it’s strategic. It creates room for what truly matters.
For me, that means saying “no” to mindless scrolling (I have my moments) or overcommitting to events, and “yes” to quality time with family, quiet mornings with God, and planning for the future.
What will you say “no” to this month?
Step 4: Small Habits, Big Changes
Now, let’s talk about habits. Atomic Habits reminds us that small, consistent actions lead to lasting change.
What’s one small habit you can commit to this month? Here are some ideas:
Journaling for five minutes a day.
Starting your morning with quiet time or prayer.
Writing down three things you’re grateful for each evening.
The goal isn’t perfection—it’s consistency. Small steps compound into big results over time.
Step 5: Rooted in Truth
Here’s the anchor that holds it all together: God’s Word.
“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
When you start your day rooted in truth, you gain clarity and peace that carry you through whatever comes your way. Whether it’s a quick devotional, a heartfelt prayer, or simply sitting in silence to listen, grounding yourself in Him changes everything.
Step 6: Ending Purposeful
Friend, you don’t have to navigate this season alone. We still have time to end this year strong—not by doing more, but by becoming more.
✨ Reflect on where you’ve been.
✨ Refocus on what truly matters.
✨ Realign with the purpose God has for you.
