If you’ve ever felt like you’re juggling a million things—leading at church, leading at work, running a busy home (hello, laundry that multiplies overnight!), and trying to keep your family on the path of following Jesus—then welcome to my world. As a leader inside and outside the church, a wife, a mother, and a senior leader at work. I’m well-acquainted with the daily whirlwinds. But amid it all, one thing remains clear: God’s specialty gives us constant fresh starts. And I, for one, need every bit of that divine “reset” button as I navigate the blessings and challenges of everyday life.
Over January, I’ve shared with you how God offers new mercies and fresh opportunities—no matter where we find ourselves. If you’re just tuning in, you can catch up on my first two posts, “New Beginnings: Embracing God’s Fresh Start Every Day” and “Fresh Starts: Prayer and Testimony for New Beginnings”. Today, we’ll tie everything together with a story that highlights what I’ve learned about resilience, building momentum, and the importance of celebration.
The Late-Night Overflow (of God’s Strength)
Not too long ago, I found myself at home in my living room after working long hours at the office only to come home and continue working with my laptop still open. My kids sitting on either side of me begging for my attention, and my husband staring at me from across the room. I know the look all too well, "shut your laptop and be done for the day." Yet, I still had so many things I had to complete. Yikes!! My first instinct was to wave the white flag and crawl into bed. But Isaiah 40:29-31 (NIV) came to mind: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak… those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Right there in our living room, I paused to pray, asking God for a fresh infusion of His power. And you know what? I felt my heart lighten—like I wasn’t battling the to-do list alone anymore. Sure, I still had plenty of work to do, but God’s presence became the extra surge of energy I needed. Sometimes resilience looks like pressing on when every cell in your body screams, “Quit!” Only then do we discover how reliable and mighty God truly is.
Finding Your Stride
That same week, I had a friend who came to me with a dilemma about how to persevere when nothing seems to change in her situation. She’d been praying for a specific need in her family for months—maybe even years—and was worn out from the wait. I could empathize because I’m still in that season, praying for breakthroughs in my household too, wondering if heaven’s voicemail is full.
Yet one of the scriptures that has kept me going—and that I shared with her—is 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV): “Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” Remaining faithful, especially when the evidence isn’t piling up in front of you, is the secret to building momentum. Whether it’s serving behind the scenes at church, leading community outreach, or simply teaching your kids the Bible at the dinner table, each step of faithfulness is a small push forward. Over time, those small, consistent pushes gather into a wave of spiritual momentum that carries us closer to God’s promises.
A Reason to Celebrate
One of my favorite moments of January was celebrating the good news my husband and I received. God had answered what seemed like an impossible prayer. We began to cry and thank the Lord and celebrate all that God has done. We cried, and we marveled at what God had done.
That’s the beauty of celebrating answered prayers. Sometimes, we breeze right past them, rushing on to the next crisis, the next need. But 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV) says, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances…” When we pause to rejoice in what God has done, we fuel our faith and renew our hope for what He will do. Celebration is not a frivolous afterthought—it’s a sacred acknowledgment of God’s faithfulness that leads us to even more new beginnings.
The Grand (But Ongoing) Finale
After weeks of exploring what it means to embrace new beginnings, I’m more convinced than ever that God’s fresh starts are tailored to our unique journeys—whether it’s balancing a busy home, managing leadership responsibilities, or disciplining our families.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV) captures this perfectly: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.”
As we wrap up this series, I encourage you to remember these core truths:
Resilience grows when we tap into God’s strength, especially, in our weakest moments.
Momentum comes from steadfast faithfulness, one prayer, and one step of obedience at a time.
Celebration is essential because every victory testifies to God’s relentless goodness, pointing us toward fresh hope and faith.
So whether you’re wading through endless loads of laundry or stepping into a new season of leadership, lean on the God whose mercies are always on tap. Take a moment to rejoice in what He’s already done, and then boldly step forward into the next new beginning He’s preparing just for you.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. May your days be filled with an awareness of God’s nearness, His power, and the unshakeable truth that His “new” for you is never in short supply.
